1. Cancer: This is the gravest of all evils. More than two thirds of older people are affected by this disease. Older people are not strong enough to cope with the course of chemotherapy. Early diagnosis of cancer increases the chances of a full recovery. Therefore, any abnormalities should be checked immediately by a medical professional.

2. Dementia: A large number of older people with dementia. Dementia is caused due to damage of the connections between the brain and nerve endings. This disease is not curable and their causes are unknown. There is no effective treatment for this disease, but certain medications can help control symptoms temporarily. The most powerful and common of dementia is Alzheimer's disease. Symptoms of the disease Alzheimer's gradually accumulate over a period of few years. It's frustrating for patients as they become more and more confused and lose all memory.

3. Parkinson's disease: This is another condition related to nerve cells, and its causes are still unknown. Dementia affects the mental health of the individual, while Parkinson's disease is primarily a physical disability. Parkinson's symptoms are uncontrollable tremors of the extremities, which is so frustrating. There is no cure for this disease, although it can be contained to some extent for a short period, with drug use. After a certain period, symptoms can be controlled.

4. Diabetes: This disease is the result of poor diet and are considered a disease of lifestyle. High fat and sugar can be causative factors. Diabetes is caused due to the body's inability to produce insulin to maintain levels of blood sugar under control. This disease is curable with diet and medication, either by injection or pills. Great attention should be given to diabetic wounds as the wounds have a tendency to degenerate faster than a non diabetic. This can result in amputation of limbs, that is quite common. Therefore, rapid diagnosis and treatment is necessary for Diabetes.
