Is my breast lump a concern?
I have a small, maybe pea-sized lump on my areola. It is reddish, and painful to the touch. I am worried that this might be cancer. I looked up symptoms on the internet, and I think that it might be a cyst. This is most likely the case seeing as I am only 15 and breast cancer is extremely rare in young adults. I am pretty sure that this is a cyst, but I would like to have second opinions. Thank you for all of your answers in advance!
You are right, breast cancer is beyond rare in your age group. It's mainly a disease of ageing - 80% of those diagnosed are over 50, it's rare in women under 40 and it's almost unheard of in under 25s.
Most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancerous. Most cancerous breast lumps don't hurt - the majority of those diagnosed have felt no pain.
Though it's almost certainly not cancer, see your doctor if it's stillthere in a few days to find out what is causing it
